Anadrol
(
oxymetholone),
sometimes called
A50
or
A-bombs,
has been developed by Syntex in 1960 primarily to treat osteoporosis
and anemia. Among its other clinical applications is to stimulate
growth in patients suffering from undernourishment and
underdevelopment.
Anadrol,
however, has been dislodged by the introduction of new drugs in
treating such conditions; notable of these new drugs is Epogen. These
new drugs are mostly non-steroidal, which means they do not exert any
effects on the bodys hormones, and are considered safer to use than
anabolic
steroids like
Anadrol.
Because of its displacement from the pharmaceutical market, Syntex
eventually decided to cease its production of
Anadrol in the
United States in 1993. However, interest with
Anadrol has been
renewed when it was found to have a positive therapeutic effect on HIV
wasting syndrome. In 1998,
Anadrol
was once again made commercially available via prescription in the
United States through the drug firm Unimed. It is important to note
that with individuals who take
Anadrol
for non-medical reasons (i.e. bodybuilding) their interest with this
steroidal compound has never waned.

Anadrol yields huge muscle mass and strength gains by improving protein
synthesis and red blood cell production.
Anadrol exerts its anabolic effects through non-androgen
receptor-mediated mechanisms as it has low affinity with androgen
receptors. Because it exerts high anabolic activity but moderate
androgenic activity, Anadrol is capable of delivering extreme mass
gains. Most of the mass gains, however, are due to water retention. So
if you are after mass gains and dont really mind the puffed or bloated
look you must opt for Anadrol. And if you do heavy lifting, Anadrol is
also a great choice due to its ability to retain water.
Water
retention acts as lubricant to joints and tendons, minimizing
the occurrence of fractures and other injury.
Anadrols
effective dose is 50mg-100mg per day. The dosage is relatively higher
than with other anabolic steroids like
Dianabol
or
Winstrol
tablets. The logic behind the high dosage is Anadrols poor affinity
with the ARs.
Anadrols another downside is it is a c-17 alpha-alkylated compound.
This modification allows this
steroid
to survive the first pass metabolism (sometimes called the first pass
effect), in which the body modifies or degrades drugs through
specialized enzymatic systems. The hepatic system is the primary system
involved in this process, and thus the liver is typically affected by
alpha-alkylated
drugs.
As such, users are cautioned against taking larger-than-recommended
dosages and adopting long
cycles
with Anadrol. The maximum cycle length with Anadrol is 6
weeks.
