State cuts funds for teen steroid testing
Posted Byi steroids
The anti-steroid message by Don Hooton after his teenage son’s suicide, attributed to steroid use, has never been more in demand.
The foundation created by him offers information at high schools and colleges across the U.S. and Canada and accepts annual donations from Major League Baseball and the National Football League for the Taylor Hooton Foundation.
Hooton, who runs the foundation out of his McKinney home says, “We’re going to budget this down to defeating the purpose of the program.”

No positive results during spring
Posted Byi steroids
The UIL released its spring anabolic steroid testing results that revealed that no athlete tested positive.
It was disclosed by the UIL that 3,308 tests were conducted from January to May.
The disclosure is expected to support claims of anti-doping agencies who have been trying hard to break down the relationship of anabolic steroids and professional sports.

Ivan Basso admits doping charges
Posted Byi steroids
Giro D’Italia champion Ivan Basso has admitted being involved in the Operation Puerto doping scandal, according to the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI).
A statement on CONI’s website said, “The office of the anti-doping power of attorney has listened today to Ivan Basso and he has widely admitted his own responsibilities relative to Operation Puerto and has supplied the maximum collaboration in order to clear up the relative facts of his involvement.”
Basso could now face a two-year ban though it is believed that his offer to help the authorities may lead to leniency.

Education program by Irish Rugby Football Union
Posted Byi steroids
The Irish Rugby Football Union is developing an education program throughout the underage system in schools so that the concerns about the use of dangerous supplements like creatine amongst rugby-playing school boys can be reduced to a significant extent.
Ruth Wood-Martin, the IRFU Performance Nutritionist said, “We actively discourage the use of supplements in underage players and we are developing a programme that will focus on how eating and drinking well is the most effective nutrition strategy to support hard training and quick recovery.”
“These protein and body building shakes they are bulking up on, no ones knows where they are coming from. Some say the ingredients are thrown into a cement mixer to mix them up.”

Failed drug test was a mistake, says Palmeiro
Posted Byi steroids
Rafael Palmeiro is sticking to his story that a tainted vitamin shot resulted in a failed drug test five years ago and is hopeful that Hall of Fame voters will overlook the mistake and honor him for his 3,020 hits and 569 home runs.
“I was telling the truth then and I am telling the truth now,” Palmeiro said.
Baseball voters have earlier denied Mark McGwire and the once certain election of Palmeiro to the Hall is in jeopardy.

New drugs and hardcore medicines used by riders
Posted Byi steroids
According to the French Anti-Doping Agency, two new and undetectable doping products were used at the 2009 Tour de France.
Pierre Bordry, head of the AFLD, told Le Monde that “two new products were used during [this year's] Tour de France: two medicines that are not yet on the market.”
Bordry said he believes illegal blood transfusions were still in use during the Tour and he claimed that his agency had found evidence of “hardcore medicines” in rubbish bins during the Tour.
