A 39-year-old Perrysburg resident, Greg Kreuz, pleaded guilty on January 7 for his operations of producing and selling anabolic steroids out of his Coe Court home.

Judge Alan Mayberry sentenced him recently and used his own words from a previous charge against him.

Kreuz said of his children, “I’ve been trying to explain to them I am not a bad person. They told me, ‘You’re not bad, you’re our dad.’”

After raids by French police on the hotel of Barloworld team in Tarbes, the team has withdrawn Moises Duenas Nevado from the Tour de France.

The A sample of Nevado is related to the fourth stage of the race, the Cholet time-trial on July 8, according to the French anti-doping agency.

Raids by police extended only as far as the Barloworld quarters, according to Didier Rous, Bouygues Telecom general manager.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has been approached by Italian cyclist Riccardo Ricco to reduce a two-year suspension.

Ricco was penalized by the Italian authorities and banned from the sport by the Anti-doping Tribunal of the National Olympic Committee of Italy (CONI) on October 2 after testing positive for CERA, a third generation version of banned substance EPO.

Ricco would only be able to compete again after July 30, 2010 if the appeal fails.

A study by California-based anti-doping research has shown that illegal steroids are easily available on Amazon.com.

“To me, it’s absolutely an amazing story,” Anti-Doping Research chief executive officer Don Catlin told The Washington Post.

Catlin also said, “To just go on Amazon.com and order anabolic steroids.”

According to a new study, children who use steroid drugs for nephrotic syndrome do not suffer from osteoporosis, which is a common side effect of steroid treatment methods in adults.

Childhood nephrotic syndrome, which is thought to affect 3 out of 100,000 children, is one of the most common chronic kidney diseases in children. Although it does not impair kidney function, it weakens ability of the body to remove salt and water in the blood causes swelling of the legs and stomach and around the eyes.

Dr. Leonard said that the findings of this report may be used to assure parents and doctors about steroid treatments too help children with nephrotic syndrome that steroids do not increase their risk of osteoporosis.

Legislators in New Jersey are trying to strengthen efforts in a sincere attempt to prevent steroid abuse, and introducing what could be the first U.S. law that would require police and firefighters, to be examined by a doctor before being prescribed anabolic steroids or human growth hormone.

Assemblyman John McKeon, who authored the bill, said, state taxpayers have been “wrongly paying for millions of dollars in insurance costs for prescriptions that were, in many cases, issued illegally.”

The state legislature is also to consider a bill, which strengthens measures to prevent steroid use and performance enhancing supplements used to improve performance by middle school and high school students.

Narcotics with a street value of nearly £10m have been seized by the cops over the past twelve months in the region.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) made it clear that it would not hesitate carrying out further checks on samples given during doping tests in Beijing.

IOC president Jacques Rogge said: “Our message is very clear. The IOC will not miss any opportunity to further analyse samples retroactively. We hope that this will work as a strong deterrent and make athletes think twice before cheating.”

The name of Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola has been cleared from drug charges by a sports anti-doping tribunal.

This case dates back to the year 2001 when Guardiola was a Brescia player in the Serie A.

The appeal was rejected by CONI’s anti-doping tribunal after the case was reopened by the prosecuting office of the Italian Olympic committee (CONI).
