So did they write fake prescriptions? I THINK NOT
right now as it stands, these are real prescriptions these guys got
now what do the feds have against HRT (steroid HGH) clinics? they do make you take a blood test
they do a consultation, they follow up and so on….
WHAT else can you ask for right? makes no sense to me really
Why not go after the online BILLION dollar pharmacies? because they can’t be touched, that’s why!
Rockland couple deny forging steroids prescriptions
NANUET - Lawyers representing a New City married couple accused of writing forged steroid prescriptions denied the charges yesterday.
Steven and Karen Lampert deny allegations that they forged their former business partner’s name to prescriptions for sale of steroids to athletes, their lawyers said.
The Lamperts ran Anti-Aging Centers in partnership with Dr. Zev Mark Cohen, who runs HealthCheck walk-in medical facilities.
An indictment unsealed yesterday in Albany County Court charged the Lamperts with forging Cohen’s signature to prescriptions and submitting them “to a Florida pharmacy for drugs totaling more than $50,000″ for people without a medical need for the drugs.
Steven Lampert is charged with 20 felony counts - nine counts each of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and of second-degree forgery.
He and his wife also face single counts of fourth-degree conspiracy and first-degree criminal diversion of prescription medications and prescriptions.
Albany County prosecutors described the Lamperts as “criminal associates” of Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, Fla. The prosecutors accuse the Florida company of being a major player in a web of businesses and doctors that illegally wrote prescriptions for steroids to athletes.
Steve Lampert’s lawyer, Jonathan Ripps of Suffern, said his client told him Cohen was aware of the prescriptions.
“Steve has represented to me that he handled the business end, not the medical end,” Ripps said. “He never signed any prescriptions. Apparently, the doctor-partner was aware of each and every prescription faxed over to Signature.”
Jay Golland, who represents Karen Lampert, said she never forged Cohen’s name and the doctor handled the medical aspects of the business.
Ripps said the Lamperts turned down more patients than they accepted at the business. And he said patients who received prescriptions had been examined, including being given blood work and physicals. He said the Lamperts had been in business with Cohen for about a year.
Cohen, who specializes in internal medicine, has not been charged in the investigation into steroid distribution, a spokeswoman for P. David Soares, Albany County’s district attorney, said yesterday.
Cohen declined to return telephone calls seeking comment.
A woman answering the telephone at the Middletown Road business said HealthCheck no longer was affiliated with the Lamperts and there would be no comment from Cohen about the couple.
The Albany District Attorney’s Office investigation has brought charges against more than 15 people, including four Signature Pharmacy officials.
Soares has acknowledged that world-class body builder Victor Martinez was an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the case and linked him to the Lamperts’ Anti-Aging Centers
