Donor age irrelevant for influencing effect on long-term liver transplant survivalThe effect of donor age has no long-term effect on survival and recurrence of hepatitis C after liver transplantation, as per a study.

The study results appeared in an issue of Liver Transplantation, the official journal of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS).  This journal is published on behalf of the societies by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. and is available online via Wiley InterScience.

It was concluded by the authors that donor age didn’t influence the progression of recurrent hepatitis C and the absence of azathioprine and steroids do play a role.
