Bautista recently said the tests under the name of random drug testing policy conducted by the Major League Baseball are not so random.

Speaking at a recent banquet event in the Dominican Republic, however, Bautista told the attendees that there’s no reason for anyone to be suspicious of his Hulk-like outbreak over the past two seasons. Since, after all, he has been “randomly” tested 16 times for performance enhancing drugs. Yes, that’s 16 times in the course of two years.

Considering that over the previous two seasons he had only been tested three total times, to go along with his 28 home runs in 700-plus at-bats, it certainly seems like said tests may not be so “random.” But then again, that’s the current nature of the game. Everyone is guilty until proven innocent… 20-some-odd times over, and over again. It probably would take another 50 or so negative tests in order for the critics to be quieted down.

The 2-time MLB Home Run Champion and newest member of the 50 HR Club has been tested sixteen times in two years.

The 31-year-old former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Lawal, learned a urinalysis administered by Nevada State Athletic Commission returned positive for the anabolic steroid Drostanolone (marketed as Masteron).

An All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State in 2003 before committing himself to an unsuccessful Olympic team run, Lawal, who’s never run afoul of drug-testing authorities before, is aiming to clear his name.

Lawal through Kogan supplied a list of supplements to ESPN.com that he claimed were the only ones used in the run-up to his second round win against Lorenz Larkin in Las Vegas on Jan. 7.

Considered by many as one of the most trusted names in the world of professional sports, Dutasteride (also known as Avodart, Avidart, Avolve, Duagen, Dutas, Dutagen, and Duprost) is second to none when it comes to minimizing the natural production of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). One of the best things about this 5α-reductase inhibitor is that it breaks down testosterone that may have got possibly converted into DHT by interfering with the 5-alpha-reductase enzymes.

It is extremely useful in relieving symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, the need to urinate frequently or urgently (including during the middle of the night), and weak stream.

The recommended dose of Dutasteride is 0.5 mg capsule orally every day, with or without meals. Dutasteride abuse can lead to side effects such as decreased sexual interest or ability, decrease in the amount of semen or sperm, breast tenderness, increased breast size, severe dizziness, trouble breathing, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), and rash. Dutasteride should not be used by children and women (especially those who are pregnant or may be pregnant) and users of this drug should not donate blood until at least six months after Dutasteride was last used as it can lead to possible administration of Dutasteride-tainted blood to pregnant female transfusion patient. This drug is not to be used by men with liver problems.

According to National Anti-Doping Agency, 11 children – from boxing, wrestling, and weightlifting – tested positive for steroids and diuretics during the 57th National School Games, which concluded recently in New Delhi.

While the three wrestlers tested positive for diuretic furosemide (a substance used to mask the presence of prohibited substances in the body), the weightlifters’ samples contained the steroid stanozolol THC (found in marijuana). The boxers tested positive for a cocktail of banned drugs – stanozolol THC (marijuana), methylhexaneamine and nandrolone.

Those caught for doping in wrestling are from schools in Maharashtra, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, while in weightlifting the positive cases came from the students of Delhi and Punjab schools. In boxing, the positive samples were found in students from Maharashtra, Manipur and Punjab.

“This has become a very serious matter. That 14 per cent of the samples have returned positive is a matter of shame for the schools and officials. It is much higher than the national average of 4 per cent,” NADA director general Rahul Bhatnagar told TOI.

The suspension was handed to Santos after she had a failed drug test that led to the removal of her title, according to reports from Sports Illustrated.

“Cyborg” tested positive for the banned substance stanozolol, an anabolic steroid, in the aftermath of her December 17th title defense against Hiroko Yamanaka at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal. The 26-year-old promptly received a $2,500 fine, a one-year suspension and the win was reversed to a “no decision.”

“I would like to sincerely apologize to Strikeforce, the Zuffa organization, Hioko Yamanaka and my fans for my failed drug test,” Santos said after the ruling. “I am ultimately responsible for everything I put in my body, and at the end of the day, there is no excuse for having a prohibited substance in my system.”

Despite her expression of regret, Santos has thus far maintained her innocence, stating that the failed test resulted from “a dietary supplement that I was assured was safe and not prohibited from use in sports competition.”

“She’s at home in Curitiba, surrounded by family who supports her wholeheartedly,” the fighter’s manager explained. “She’s recalibrating and trying to put her head around the suspension.”

Omnadren, also known as Omnis, has the chemical name of 17beta-hydroxy-androst-4-en-3-one and the molecular weight of 288.429 g/ml at the base. Its anabolic/androgenic ratio is 100:100 and one milliliter of Omnadren 250 includes 100mg testosterone caproate, 60mg testosterone isocaproate, 60mg testosterone phenylpropionate, and 30mg testosterone propionate. While professional and college athletes were usually the ones in the spotlight, steroid use has trickled down to high school student-athletes. No longer are teenagers immune, acquiring the lethal product with little difficulty.

“We would be naive to think in this day and age that this type of activity isn’t going on more and more — the pressure on kids, parents wanting to see their kids gets scholarships, the pressures of AAU ball,” said Mike Gatley, president of the Cape-Atlantic League and athletic director at Mainland High School. “We’d be naive to think kids aren’t potentially contemplating it or using things to get better.”

“When my kids were (teenagers), I asked them about steroids,” state Sen. Richard Codey, D-Essex, said. “They said they could just go to the city (New York) or on the Internet. It was easy as pie. Where did they learn this? From kids in school.”

Robert W. Smith, 31, of Williamstown, was apprehended by members of the police department and Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office on narcotics-related charges at around 10 p.m. that evening.

Smith, who had been assigned to the department’s patrol bureau, was lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash bail. He was “immediately suspended without pay with intent to dismiss pending final criminal case disposition,” according to BPD Chief Mark Ott.

Smith was in possession of 60 pills of Anavar, according to court documents.

The legitimacy of Cyborg’s bulky frame has been under questions for years but this is the first time an official testing has confirmed those suspicions.

Along with her suspension, Cris “Cyborg” Santos will face a $2,500 fine and her bout with Hiroko Yamanaka will be retroactively changed to a No Decision (NC). With Santos currently out of the women’s MMA picture, there are early concerns that the Strikeforce 145 lb women’s division may be in big trouble moving forward. With all the best female fighters at 135, and Santos now gone, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the two divisions merged or purged in some fashion in the near future.

As it would happen, the recent confirmation of Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate now makes that contest the biggest match possible in women’s MMA, although that’s a bit of a bittersweet recognition under the circumstances.
