Heart treatment drug may be useful for preeclampsia
Posted Byi steroids
Expecting mothers with severe preeclampsia can benefit from a drug that is presently used for treating patients afflicted with complications of the heart.
Digibind, the drug, is presently under the evaluation stage in the hands of researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Dr. Nicole Ruddock, the study’s principal investigator and an instructor in UTMB’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, remarked that this study has significant implications to treat preeclampsia, particularly when there are no presently available options for providing relief to patients with the complication.
