MICKEY ROURKE ON STEROID USE
Posted Byi steroids
Philip Andre “Mickey” Rourke, Jr. is a familiar name in Hollywood. Not only is he a Golden Globe awardee, but he has appeared in several successful films such as 1941, Body Heat and Diner. His most recent film is entitled, “The Wrestler”, which took home the Golden Lion Award for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival. In this movie, Rourke plays the role of fighter Randy “The Ram” Robinson. The actor underwent training under a former WWE wrestler Afa the Wild Samoan. The hard training paid off since Rourke won the best actor award in the 2008 Independent Spirit Award.
The role fit Rourke perfectly since besides being an actor, he is also a boxer. He is used to the tough training and bodybuilding. In one of Rourke’s interview with Men’s Journal, he gave a rather implicating statement that now has people talking.
From SFGate.com:
When asked if he took anabolic steroids, the star replied, “When I’m a wrestler, I behave like a wrestler.” But Rourke now insists he didn’t use growth hormones or controversial sports drugs to enhance his physique.
It wouldn’t be anything new for a celebrity to use performance enhancing drugs. A few months ago, several artists were identified to be taking steroids in order to counter aging. Rourke didn’t take any of these drugs though. So what did he do to look more like a wrestler? According to him, he used some heavy duty supplements to improve his performance. These weren’t steroids or any other regular stuff though. Whatever the supplements were, they proved to be quite effective.
