New insights identified for alcoholic hepatitisClinical practice is expected to be informed to treat patients afflicted with severe or acute alcoholic hepatitis by two French studies at the International Liver CongressTM 2010 press conference.

The results disclosed that that early liver transplantation can be proposed to non-respondents, pending a very careful examination of selected patients. It is worth noting here that patients who do not respond to steroids have a survival of around 30 percent.

The results were presented by Professor Philippe Mathurin from the Hôpital Huriez, CHRU Lille, France.
