A St Helens detective has recently admitted being part of a gang that was involved in supplying bodybuilding steroids and passing secret intelligence to a man accused of gun offences.

Detective Constable Paul David Fletcher, 46, admitted while appearing at Liverpool Crown Court that he was being involved in the supply of class C drugs to fellow St Helens policeman Sgt Paul Hornby, 43.

Both the St Helens policemen are suspended from duty.
