Nathan Baggaley charged with steroid possession in jailNathan Baggaley, the disgraced Australian Olympic medalist, has been charged with possessing steroids in jail.

Baggaley was already serving a nine-year jail term with a non-parole period of five years for dealing in ecstasy.

The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency busted the Olympic medalist for anabolic steroid use in 2005 and imposed an international two-year ban on him.

Steroid use among female teens is for many unhealthy choices such as diet pills and smoking, as per a study published in Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, a JAMA/Archives journal.

Future studies are required to formulate effective interventions for high-risk young women who have received less attention than young men in the past, according to Diane Elliot, M.D., professor of medicine (health promotion and sports medicine), OHSU School of Medicine.

The link between adolescent anabolic steroid use and aggression was recently documented in a new research from Northeastern University that was published in an issue of the journal Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior.

This research was funded by the National Institute of Health.

To add to the woes, the physiological and neurological effects in the long term associated with such use have not been fully examined in the past.

A new research from Northeastern University that was published in an issue of the journal Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior has documented the association between adolescent anabolic steroid use and aggression. The research also suggested that an association between the increases in aggression with deficits in the brain’s serotonin system.

This research was funded by the National Institute of Health.
