In a shocking probe, the true scale of the deadly drugs plaguing the North’s streets was laid bare.

Narcotics with a street value of nearly £10m have been seized by the cops over the past twelve months in the region.

Nicholson said, “We don’t have a bigger problem than anywhere else in the country and a lot of the seizures are from cannabis farms. Cannabis has always been popular up here because it’s a depressant and there’s a big drinking culture in the region. It’s a natural progression for some people to get the same hit.”
