Green Tea can delay Type 1 diabetes onsetEGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate), a powerful antioxidant in green tea, could be more than just useful for delaying or preventing the onset of type 1 diabetes, as per researchers from the Medical College of Georgia.

The antioxidant was examined by researchers on a laboratory mouse with type 1 diabetes and primary Sjogren’s syndrome, which can damage moisture-producing glands resulting in dry eyes and mouth.

Green Tea can delay type 1 diabetes onsetA powerful antioxidant in green tea could delay or prevent the onset of type 1 diabetes, as per researchers from the Medical College of Georgia.

The predominant antioxidant in green tea, EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate), was tested on a lab mouse with type 1 diabetes and primary Sjogren’s syndrome that damages glands producing moisture leading to dry eyes and mouth.

This study supported an earlier research displaying impact of EGCG on helping prevent autoimmune diseases and was published in an issue of Life Sciences.
