NBA Free Agent Lamar Obom Enters Rehab

Lamar Obom, the NBA free agent and star of “Khloe & Lamar“, has reportedly checked himself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. This was after his recent arrest for allegedly driving under the influence. He however didn’t spent much time and checked out the rehab center roughly a day after he sought help for drug addiction, according to recent rumors.

Obom was arrested on August 30, 2013 after being stopped in Los Angles on US Route 101. He showed “objective signs of intoxications”, as per California Highway Patrol. The 33-year old NBA free agent was unable to perform a field sobriety test and has not entered a plea. Odom was released on a bond of $15,000. His driving license has been suspended for one year for driving under the influence.

The two-time NBA champion and former Sixth Man of the Year Award winner is married to “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Khloé Kardashian Their wedding was featured on the E! reality-based series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Odom and Khloé’s relationship has been in trouble in the recent past, much due to the alleged drug use of the former LA Laker. It is alleged that Khloé kicked him out of their LA home and gave him an ultimatum to go and seek help for his problems with drugs.

The alleged drug dealer of Lamar Odom has claimed that the NBA free agent spent $50,000 on cocaine in three years. He added Odom consumed cocaine on as many as 10 occasions since 2010 when the LA Clippers basketball player visited Queens in New York where he grew up.

Odom violated the drug policy of NBA twice in 2001 and then admitted to using marijuana in 2003. He is presently unsigned but had been drawing interest from the Lakers, as well as the L.A. Clippers, where he finished last season. The American professional basketball forward averaged 4.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in 82 games for the Clippers last season.

Odom’s mother died of colon cancer and his father was a heroin addict. In 1997, Lamar Odom was named the Parade Magazine Player of the Year in 1997. The 6 foot 10 inch forward was named to the 2000 NBA All-Rookie First Team. Lamar Joseph Odom played college basketball for the Rhode Island Rams before he was drafted in the first round with the fourth overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1999 NBA Draft. Odom signed as a restricted free agent with the Miami Heat before being traded to the Lakers. After spending seven seasons with the Lakers, Odom was traded to Dallas and then back to the Clippers in 2012. Odom led the US in rebounds at the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Istanbul and became the first player in history to win both an NBA championship and FIBA Gold in the same year. Odom made a cameo on the second season of the HBO television series Entourage and featured in Pro Skater Rob Dyrdek’s MTV show Fantasy Factory.
