Steroid use among girls not merely restricted to athletics
Female teens make use of steroids for many purposes other than athletics, according to a team of researchers from the Division of Health Promotion & Sports Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University.
Steroid use among female teens is for many unhealthy choices such as diet pills and smoking, as per a study published in Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, a JAMA/Archives journal.
Future studies are required to formulate effective interventions for high-risk young women who have received less attention than young men in the past, according to Diane Elliot, M.D., professor of medicine (health promotion and sports medicine), OHSU School of Medicine.
