nfl-steroidsWhen it rains, it pours. This seems to be the case in the NFL these days as another player got suspended for violating the league’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances. More on this from the Associated Press:

The NFL suspended Tennessee reserve defensive lineman Kevin Vickerson for four games without pay starting Friday for violating the league’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.

The league does not comment on the type of violation.

Vickerson’s suspension will keep him out the rest of the regular season. He will be eligible to return on Dec. 29, a day after the Titans (11-1) conclude the regular season at Indianapolis. He has played in seven of the first 12 games and has 1.5 sacks.

The Titans also did not comment on Vickerson’s case; however, the player’s agent, Tony Fleming said today that it was a diuretic pill.

“Kevin is in no way admitting guilt, he simply wants to put this behind him and be ready for the playoffs,” Fleming  said in an email to AP.

The Tennessean reported on its website that the 25-year-old player tested for the bumetanide, the loop diuretic which was also the culprit for the suspension Kevin Williams and Pat Williams of the Minnesota Vikings, and Charles Grant, Deuce McAllister and Will Smith of the New Orleans Saints.
