MCT Oil is considered to be a modular source of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) for patients who are unable to digest or absorb conventional fats in a normal manner.
Medium Chain Triglycerides need less enzymes as well as bile acids for digestion purposes and are believed to be more hydrolyzed than other fats. MCT Oil includes caprylic (octanoic acid) and capric (decanoic acid) fatty acids.
MCTs are known to mimic the function of carbohydrates and regarded as a direct source for the human body. The consumption of MCTs is known to increase caloric thermogenesis at a phenomenal rate.
The human body makes use of the MCTs for varying purposes such as burning of fat, production of adenosine triphosphate and improving the level of muscle energy.
Indications
MCT Oil is indicated to those who cannot digest and absorb conventional, long chain food fats in an efficient manner.
Precautions & Warnings
Individuals with existing advanced cirrhosis of the liver should avoid MCT Oil as that can elevate blood and spinal fluid levels.
