Arnold Schwarzenegger-A Multifacet Personality
Considered
as one of the most significant figures in the bodybuilding world,
Arnold Schwarzenegger does not require any kind of introduction. From
achieving the honor of being the youngest one to become Mr. Universe to
a notable leader of political front, this legend is a multifacet
personality in true sense.
Born in Thal region of Austria on July 30, 1947, as a boy,
Schwarzenegger played many sports especially football. But his passion
for bodybuilding won over other sports. He started weight-training at15
and just at the age of 20 became the youngest Mr. Universe.
Schwarzenegger also has a total of seven Mr. Olympia titles under his
cap. In addition, in 1965, he served in the Austrian army and won the
Junior Mr. Europe contest too in the same year.
Besides achieveing wins in bodybuilding competitions,
Schwarzenegger's worldwide fame came along with his acting career. He
gained identity as a Hollywood action film icon and worked in various
noted movies, such as Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator. During
his entire career, he is called by various nicknames, such as the
"Austrian Oak" and the "Styrian Oak" in his bodybuilding days; and
"Arnold Strong" and "Arnie" during acting career, as well as recently
Schwarzenegger is known as the "Governator".
Schwarzenegger's post-bodybuilding retirement life is also
full of
actions and wins. He remained attached with the sport through his gyms
and fitness magazines. This Austrian bodybuilder has also headed
numerous contests and awards shows. He, along with Bruce Willis,
Sylvester Stallone and Demi Moore, was a founding investor of a chain
of international theme restaurant, “Planet Hollywood”. Currently,
Schwarzenegger holds the office as the Governor of California state of
the United States.
With a win in Junior Mr. Europe contest in 1965, Arnold
Schwarzenegger began his bodybuilding career. In the next year only, he
won Mr. Europe title. As a professional bodybuilder, this
Austrian-American legend has a treasure of five Mr. Universe and seven
Mr. Olympia crowns under his kitty.
Arnold's autobiography/weight-training guide “Arnold: The
Education
of a Bodybuilder,” was published in 1977. Apart from this, he has also
written a range of books and articles based on the sport. For magazines
Muscle & Fitness and Flex, he wrote monthly columns and was
later
appointed as their executive editor. In addition, his hometown of Graz
established a soccer stadium in Schwarzenegger's honor.
