It's
said that genius is one thing which only ‘passion' can herald from
within a person. This is so because in the process of becoming one, a
person needs to invest in endless hours of hard work, diligence and
graft. One such example who has put in his best and succeeded in being
one is Phil Heath.
Phil Heath was born in Seattle , W.A., United States on
December 18
th , 1979 as Phillip Jerrod Heath. He played basketball for the
University of Denver before taking over body building as a profession
in 2002.
Heath's competitive history since 2003 includes Northern
Colorado State, Novice, Light-Heavyweight 1st and overall and NPC
Colorado State, Light-Heavyweight, 1st (2003), NPC Colorado State ,
Heavyweight, 1st and Overall (2004). He came into prominence almost
immediately by winning the overall title of National Physique Committee
(NPC), USA Championships in 2005 and since then earned the honor of
competing as an IFBB Pro. He is already called ‘The Gift, The Next Best
Thing' after he won his first two pro events namely The New York Pro
Championship and The Colorado Pro Championship in 2006. He stood fifth
at Arnold Classic held in 2007, though his critics still take him to
have secured the third position in the contest. This indeed speaks
volumes of Phil's popularity and ardor among the masses.
However in 2008, he made a judicious decision of not
participating
in the Mr. Olympia contest as he thought he needs more time to improve
further for the same. This came as a boon to him as he participated in
the IFBB Iron Man Show in the same year instead and proved himself by
standing second to Dexter Jackson at Arnold Classic. Phil has been only
the second contestant after Flex Wheeler to have become the first
rookie to be placed in top 3 in Mr. Olympia debut in 2008.
His competitive stats include height 5'9”, arms- 21”,
legs-31”,
calves- 19”, neck- 17.5”, waist- 29” and chest -52”. His competition
weight has been 235 lbs where as off season weight has been 260 lbs.
Heath has invariably been featured in many fitness magazines
and
articles and has also occupied the cover page of Flex Magazine many a
times.
Phil Heath still has a long way to go but his journey till
date has
brilliantly exemplified how passion amalgamated with hard graft can
chisel a person to be at his best!
