Locog embarrassed after withdrawing job offer to drugs cheatOfficials for London 2012 Olympics have been forced to withdraw a high-profile job offer of technical operations manager for weightlifting to a known former drugs cheat.

Sevdalin Marinov, 42, had been offered the role of technical operations manager for London 2012 despite testing positive for steroids in 1994 and a life ban that was subsequently overturned.

Marinov is the son-in-law of the International Weightlifting Federation vice-president Sam Coffa and was due to start his new job next Monday but Locog have now withdrawn their offer following an intervention by the senior management.
