Georges St. Pierre- B.J. Penn rematch on the works

gsp-bj-pennAnother explosive battle between welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and B.J. Penn might take place next year, according to St. Pierre’s manager Shari Spencer.

In a recent radio interview, Spencer confirmed that a repeat encounter could happen on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas.

“That’s my understanding,” said Spencer. “I know [UFC President] Dana [White] has been announcing it publicly. We haven’t officially signed a bout agreement, but everything is pointing toward January 31 in Vegas against B.J. Penn.”

In March 2006 at UFC 58 USA Versus Canada, St. Pierre won via a split decision over Penn.  The 29-year-old Penn currently holds UFC’s lightweight championship belt and fans want to see these two fighters deliver classic octagon action.

Spencer confirmed news of the planned 170-pound title bout on the heels of intensive renegotiations with Zuffa LLC, parent company to the UFC, to retain St. Pierre’s services.

“We’ve been in long discussions with the UFC for several months,” said Spencer. “I am not at liberty to say anything right now. But there should be some news coming out regarding that very shortly.”

St. Pierre’s recent bout earned him a unanimous decision over Jon Fitch at UFC 87 Seek and Destroy last August 9. After that match, the Canadian fighter had one fight remaining on his contract with UFC. And there had been rumors the “Rush” might end up with opposing promotion, particularly Affliction Entertainment. Now that St. Pierre’s services had been retained by UFC the rumors have been dispelled.

BJ Penn is coming off a win over Sean Sherk, who was suspended from the UFC and lost the UFC lightweight title due to testing positive for anabolic steroids.  He denied using steroids and stuck to his story.  The anti-steroid BJ Penn slammed Sean Sherk for steroid use, but couldn’t go further.  He defeated Sean Sherk but didn’t defeat the rumor about Sherks’ steroid use.  Of course in MMA/UFC and every other sport, HGH is widely used because there is no test for it – and judging by BJ Penns’ big forehead, he’s a HGH lover!

BJ_penn_sean_sherk ufc 84BJ Penn proved himself against Sean Sherk at UFC 84. Let’s looks at BJ Penn vs. Sean Sherk UFC 84 play by play.

BJ Penn Vs. Sean Sherk

Round 1:
Sean Sherk came out in the opening seconds with a single-leg takedown, but was stuffed by BJ Penn. Sean Sherk connects with a a strong left hand which rocks BJ Penn. Sherk and Penn keep trading short jabs in the middle of the ring. Then BJ Penn rocks Sherk with a 1 / 2 combo, but Sean recovers fast. Sean Sherks eye is opened up from the trades, he’s bleeding. The rest of the round BJ Pen keeps throwing jabs.

Round 1 score: 10-9 (BJ Penn)

Round 2:
Sherk comes on strong with a low kick and both fighters start the punching exchange again. BJ Penn lands a strong uppercut, but Sean Sherk is standing and trading with Penn with fast short punches. Sherk seems very damaged from the jabs Penn keeps throwing, he seems worn out. Sean Sherk attempts a single-leg takedown and is stuff by BJ Penn, then BJ lands a left hook.

Round 2 score: 10-9 (BJ Penn)

Round 3:
Again, both fighters come out and trade jabs in the middle of the ring. However, Sherk is bleeding hard and cannot answer BJ Penns’ non stop jab and straight attacks. BJ Penn throws a few punches, then explodes into a flying knee that rocks Sean Sherk against the cage. BJ Penn jumps on him and hits him with non stop punches until the round ends.

Round 3 score: 10-8 (BJ Penn)

The fight was stopped after the 3rd round:
BJ Penn Wins by Technical Knock Out at 5:00 in the 3rd round

iSteroids Thoughts on the fight:
It seems Sean Sherk had no gameplan! what was he thinking? let’s face it, he was NEVER a great striker and BJ Penn is known for being a good striker. So, why stand up with someone who’s a better striker? why not use your wrestling to keep taking down BJ Penn and keep him down. Sean Sherk had the worst gameplan we’ve ever seen. He should have taken down BJ Penn over and over and kept him on the ground with lay and pray, blanket him for 4-5 rounds to a decision. Plus, Sherk looked slow and weak, very poorly handled fight.

Wanderlei_Silva_Keith_Jardine Wanderlei Silva Vs. Keith Jardine

Wanderlei Silva Vs. Keith Jardine play by play:

Round 1:
Jardine comes out with a kick and Wanderlei counters with a right hand which hurts Jardine hard. Silva’s blood instinct kicks in and he jumps on a fallen Keith Jardine and ground and pounds him with non stop right hands. Jardine is knocked out completely blank. He is not moving at all at 0:36 (36 seconds) into the 1st round. For 4 minutes past the knock out, Jardine was completely out, that’s right he was out for over 4 minutes!

Wanderlei Silva Wins by Knock Out at 0:36 in the 1st round

iSteroids Thoughts on the fight:
Wanderlei Silva is back and his killer instinct is back. Wanderlei Silva needs to do what he does best, knock people out! He proved himself well against Jardine, and Jardine beat Chuck Liddell.

UFC 84 ILL WILL – Steroid Target #1 Sean Sherk

sean-sherk-ufc steroidsSean Sherk a History in UFC:

Our 1st target of steroid use discussion is Sean Sherk, one of the many fighters we’ll discuss in the upcoming UFC 84. Sean Sherk was just suspended for steroid use, after testing positive after the UFC73 event 07/07/07. Now he’s back, after claiming he didn’t use steroids, and a long suspension. He lost his title by default to an interim champion BJ Penn. Now, he’s going to get a chance to gain back his ‘stolen’ title. This time he’ll surely be tested for anabolic steroids.

Sean Sherk and Steroids:

After UFC 73, Sean Sherk tested positive for steroids, but  so did his opponent Hermes Franca.  This begs the question, how likely is it that 2 athletes are testing positive for steroids from the same fight.  Answer: unlikely!  It’s very possible that the steroid test done on Sherk was false positive.  Sean Sherk, though, in our eyes is probably a heavy anabolic steroid user, just based on his looks.  Sean, please be ready for your steroid test this time!

UFC 84 BJ Penn Vs. Sean Sherk fight outcome predictions:

1) BJ Penn Submits Sean Sherk in Round 2

probability:  45%

2)  Sean Sherk wins a decision over BJ Penn

probability: 55%

UFC 80: BJ Penn on steroids?

bj penn before and after steroidsThe outcome of UFC 80 is a bit surprising but a bit predictable. 1st, BJ penn beat Joe Stevenson with a choke hold in the 2nd round. 2nd, BJ Penn was using steroids. You heard me right! the same guy what was talking shit about Sherk about using steroids is obviously on some sort of drugs. Take a look at his before and after pics. He looks like a different person, which makes me believe he’s using some performance enhancing drugs. It seems the irony is his shit talking about steroid use will eventually backfire! Don’t worry, even if he does pass the drug test it doesn’t mean he wasn’t using steroids, it just means he wasn’t caught.

Ok here you go UFC 80 results:

BJ Penn Wins by Submission (Choke) at 4:02 in the 2nd round
Fabricio Werdum Wins by Technical Knock Out at 4:34 in the 2nd round
Marcus Davis Wins by Knock Out at 1:04 in the 1st round
Wilson Gouveia Wins by Knock Out at 0:37 in the 2nd round
Jorge Rivera Wins by Technical Knock Out at 1:20 in the 1st round
Antoni Hardonk Wins by TKO Stoppage (Referee) at 0:17 in the 1st round
Paul Kelly Wins by Unanimous Decision at 5:00 in the 3rd round
Alessio Sakara Wins by Technical Knock Out at 1:30 in the 1st round
Sam Stout Wins by Unanimous Decision at 5:00 in the 3rd round
